Median Age in Lexington County

 

The median divides the age distribution into two equal parts: one-half of the cases falling below the median age and one-half above the median. In South Carolina in 2000 the median age was 35.4. In Lexington County the median age was slightly higher than that for the state, at 35.7.

 

The median age for females tends to be higher than that for males. Statewide in 2000, the median age for males was 34.0 and the median age for females was 36.5. For males in Lexington County, the median age was 34.8; for females, the median age was 36.6.

For African-Americans in South Carolina in 2000 the median age for both sexes was 30.5 and the median age for Whites of both sexes was 37.9. In Lexington County, the median age for African-Americans of both sexes was 28 years; for Whites, the median age was 37.2 years.
