Growth of Foreign-Born Population

 

  • Between 1990 and 2000, the number of foreign-born individuals in the state of South Carolina more than doubled, increasing by 132.1 percent. Between 1990 and March 2000, a total of 60,807 foreign-born individuals entered the state.
  • In Lexington County, the foreign-born population increased by 152.2 percent, from 2,491 people in 1990 to 6,283 in 2000.
