Travel Time to Work in Lexington County

 

Mean travel time to work is the average travel time in minutes that workers usually took to get from home to work (one-way). This measure is obtained by dividing the total number of minutes taken to get from home to work by the number of workers 16 years old and over who did not work at home. The travel time includes time spent waiting for public transportation, picking up passengers in car pools, and time spent in other activities related to getting to work.

 

South Carolina's mean travel time to work in 2000 was 25.5 minutes, slightly longer than the national mean commute of 24.3 minutes. The mean travel time to work for the state has increased by 5.0 minutes since 1990. Jasper County had the longest mean travel time to work in South Carolina in 2000, at 34.2 minutes. Greenwood County, at 20.2 minutes, had the shortest.
