Time Warner Cable dedicates new building, major investment in Lexington County
318,000 square foot facility features state-of-the-art Call Center
WEST COLUMBIA - Time Warner Cable will commemorate the completion of its new company headquarters building in Lexington County on Monday, February 24, in a ceremony at the company’s new Operations Center at 3347 Platt Springs Road. The ceremony marks the first company-owned headquarters building in South Carolina and represents an investment of over $24 Million, including purchase and renovation.
The new building includes Columbia system employees, as well as a state-of-the-art call center that handles most customer transactions throughout the SC Division. Time Warner Cable’s Division executives and administrative staff will also be located in the new building. 750 employees are now stationed in the Platt Springs Road facility, which is adjacent to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
“This is a milestone for our operations in South Carolina,” said Bob Barlow, Division President. “We are pleased with our new Operations Center, which will enable us to provide even more efficient and responsive service to our customers. Our growth to this new building is a direct result of the substantial investment we made in deploying the most sophisticated fiber optic broadband network in South Carolina, which now allows us to offer Digital Cable, High-Speed Internet, Digital Phone, and other advanced services”, Barlow added.
The new office replaces Time Warner Cable’s former leased headquarters and operations building on Greystone Boulevard in Columbia. The company occupied that building for seven years before dramatic growth necessitated the relocation to a significantly larger facility. The Greystone building will continue to house the customer payment center for that area of Columbia.
Time Warner Cable’s purchase of the new 318,000 square foot building, of which the company currently occupies 154,000 square feet, will enable them to experience further growth in the future.
Members of the press and media are invited to the ceremony which will be attended by community and business leaders, as well as public officials on February 27, 2006 at 3:30 P.M. Press and media vehicles are invited to park in the front parking lot off of Platt Springs Road. Children from the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands, a major Time Warner Cable partner, will release groups of balloons at the ribbon cutting to help commemorate the event.
