Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation today announced that the company will locate its new operations in Lexington County. The $313 million investment is expected to generate 707 new jobs.

Michelin Announces Expansion in Lexington County

Gov. Nikki Haley, the South Carolina Department of Commerce and Lexington County today announced that Michelin will invest another $200 million in its Lexington facility to further expand its tire building capacity.

Interstate Container Announces New Facility in Lexington County

Gov. Nikki Haley, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Lexington County and the Central SC Alliance today announced that Interstate Container will establish its new manufacturing facility in Lexington County. The more than $13 million investment is expected to generate 60 new jobs.

Lexington County Economic Ambassador Award

Lexington County Council, on March 22, 2011, presented Raul Fernandez-Carreras as the 2010 Ambassador for Economic Development for Lexington County. On January 25th, Fernandez-Carreras attended a ceremony at the State House, hosted by the SC Department of Commerce, to celebrate this achievement. This year marked the SC Department of Commerce’s 20th Annual Industry Appreciation celebration. Forty-seven individuals from 46 counties were honored for their exceptional efforts to cultivate economic development activities in South Carolina.

Lexington County Night

Lexington County held its first annual Legislative Night hosting the South Carolina General Assembly on Wednesday, February 2nd. The event was sponsored by various local businesses-- including platinum sponsors Lexington Medical Center, Michelin, SCANA and Time Warner Cable. Held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, the “Night” was designed to showcase the spectrum of opportunity available in Lexington County to lawmakers, who may not be aware of the wide array of resources the county provides and the successes it enjoys!

Gov. Sanford, Dept. of Commerce and Lexington County Announce Amazon.com Inc.'s Plans to Create 1,249 new permanent jobs

Gov. Mark Sanford, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Lexington County and the Central SC Alliance today formally announced Amazon.com, Inc.'s plans to invest up to $100 million and create 1,249 new permanent jobs with the establishment of a new distribution center in Lexington County. The facility is expected to create an additional 2,500 seasonal positions to meet its needs and to be operational before the 2011 holiday season.

Atlantic Southeast Airlines Celebrates Opening of Regional Jet Maintenance Facility in Columbia, S.C.

Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ: SKYW), today will cut the ribbon on its regional jet maintenance facility at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE). CAE is Atlantic Southeast's primary overnight maintenance base for its regional jet fleet serving United Express, and the airline has invested significantly in refurbishing the existing facility (formerly the Doolittle Hangar) that can accommodate up to three aircraft at a time.

FPL Food LLC Announces New Facility in Lexington County

The South Carolina Department of Commerce, Lexington County and the Central SC Alliance today announced that FPL Food LLC will locate its further processing facility in Lexington County. The opening of this facility is expected to generate 75 new jobs, with a total employee count of over 150.
